The following Friday, the 17th, will see celebrations for St Patrick’s night in the club (more details to follow), and then we’ll see if Irish eyes are still smiling the next day for the Six Nations Super Saturday when all six teams contest their final matches of the 2017 season. The club will be open from noon.

Finally on Tuesday 27th the Jack Barstow Team League re-commences for it’s second season. Let Dave Tierney or Dirk Cuthbertson know if you would like to enter a team for this next season.

What’s in a name?

We call ourselves the PHG Snooker Club but in fact, officially, we are the Parochial and Home Guard Club. Our official name gives a good indication of our origins: what was originally the Home Guard Club was founded in 1942 by members of the local Home Guard unit seeking to “keep up the fighting morale”. Take a look at our History page for more details.
