Junior Academy Student’s success

Congratulations to one of our Junior members, Casey, who has recently taken part in the EASB National Championship qualifiers held at Leeds Northern Snooker Centre on November 10th. Casey actually won all his matches, ensuring that he now qualifies for the last 16 of the National Finals to be held next year on May 25 at the Northern Snooker Centre. This is a tremendous achievement considering that Casey is 11 and is playing against other players up to 3 years older than him. He is the youngest player to qualify this season for the finals and was only one of five players that scored a break over 30.

As a reward Casey was taken by his family  to meet Ronnie O’Sullivan in Halifax at “A sporting life story with Ronnie O’Sullivan” at the Victoria Theatre

Spooktacular Halloween Quiz

A great night was had by all when Steve and Jan put on our annual Halloween Quiz. Raffles, a picture quiz, questions and rounds of sticky 13 (a card based bingo game) made for a memorable evening and prizes were shared out amongst a 40 strong audience. The next quiz night will be on January 12th 2019 and for some reason is called our “Christmas Quiz”

We’re very worried about Steve!

… but the food went down very well …

…. and sticky puddings were  followed by Sticky 13 …

… and the snooker room will take some clearing up!

Success for one of our Junior Members

The club is pleased to congratulate one of its Junior Academy members on success in league snooker run by The Northern Snooker Centre.  Casey Ratcliff and members of his family had a fabulous time at the Presentation Night at The Northern Snooker Club  where Casey was presented with 3 Trophies for Winner of the Thursday League, Winner of the Friday League and Runner up for the Saturday Premier League. The highlight of the evening for Casey though, was meeting two-time World Championship finalist Matthew Stevens and, even better, getting to play a frame against him. Fantastic effort Casey, well done!

Leeds Snooker League

On  Wednesday 5th September our newly named league team played Pudsey Liberal Club (A) at Pudsey. A very warm welcome was given to the players by the home team in this first game of the season and a tightly fought match ensued. The long lay off certainly became apparent with all members of the team displaying match nerves and rustiness. Fortunately the same could be said for the home team and the night ended in a 4-4 draw with everyone winning one game and losing the other.

Our next match is against East Leeds Snooker Club on Wednesday 12 September, starting at 7.30 pm

You can follow the fortunes of the our team, Oakwood Parochial & Home Guard Snooker Club (the longest name in the league!), by clicking here. Select league G  and Submit to see  the latest table of results. Click on our club’s name to see individual fixtures, results and  score cards
