We call ourselves the PHG Snooker Club but in fact, officially, we are the Parochial and Home Guard Club. Our official name gives a good indication of our origins: what was originally the Home Guard Club was founded in 1942 by members of the local Home Guard unit seeking to “keep up the fighting morale”.
